Knowledge is power...(or you don't know what you don't know)
As we wrap up 2013 and think about plans for the new year, too often we are quick to make decisions about advancement strategy without really arming ourselves with all the information we need to get it right. Most of us have gotten in the habit of using hunches and best guesses instead of qualitative and quantitative data to guide our work.
Would you trust a doctor, tax advisor or lawyer who relied on hunches and best guesses? Of course not!
So why is research so important? Well, to put it simply . . . you don’t know what you don’t know. If your organization is not regularly utilzing research, you risk wasting months or years, not to mention valuable time and money, on strategies that yield disappointing results.
